Kids Church Leader – Conrad Burns

Hi there! Finding myself doing the Kids Church at C1 came as a bit of a surprise to me but I believe God spoke to me quite specifically about it. I was around when Hamish & Di started doing church in Auckland over 20 years ago so it is not a new desire to want to help them-I just never considered doing Kids Church before. Now it really seems to fit.

I have always sensed a great blessing in serving God in whatever way I can in life-especially in church. So I guess, in a way, this is really an extension of that desire. Sowing into the kingdom of God is a really fulfilling thing to do.

My own children have been both a great joy and a great concern in my life, as I figure they are for most parents, so it was hugely significant that my eldest teenage daughter recently re-dedicated her life to The Lord. It does something to your heart when that happens! I do not see as much of my two oldest, who live with their mum, as I do of my two youngest girls who frequently stay with us.

Therefore, I must confess that I really had nothing to do with the decision she made (I’m such a heathen you know!) I have been very focused on my own kids (maybe too much so!) in the last few years so maybe that’s why God spoke to me so clearly regarding Kids Church. ‘YOU look after MY kids and I will look after YOURS!’ It reminds me of Psalm 37:4. Since God had already proven good on his end of the deal regarding my daughter I really had nothing to lose! My prayers had been answered and it required no great act of faith to help out C1 in this way. It’s simply a response to being thankful and following God’s leading.

Of course Diane telling me to get my ‘A’ into ‘G’ was in NO way a part of the decision!! That was most out of character for her-don’t you think! And somewhat surprisingly, I also really love it! So here I am. Got a problem-take it to the Big Guy (that’s God not Hamish btw!)

During our church services kids have their own program. One theme has been worship.

As part of the program they composed an original song and some photos of this have been enclosed. There are also photos of the Jericho story and other activities done by the groups.
